13. Recruitment Advisor’s Report:
We have
lost one member since the last meeting. Mr Ken Rowsell who died on Monday 9th
January 2012 age 93; his cremation took place on Thursday 19th January at
Whimple crematorium at 1345.
We have:
185
members
108 pay
by Direct Debit
75 pay
by cash
2 are
life members.
This
could well be the last accurate report I give the committee until the AGM. The
reason for this is because I used to get feedback from Head Office when I
recruited, transferred or lost a member, but that now doesn't happen. The
reason I think this is not happening is because of staff cutbacks. I have spoken to the County Secretary about
this issue.
In
future, all I will be reporting at the committee meetings will be if we have
gained or lost a member, but I cannot be sure this will be reflected at head
office in London.
Badges:
No change from the last meeting I still have 9 badges and £55:00.
News
from the County:
One
welfare case has come to a successful completion, and one other has been
suspended as the client decided that the they no longer required Legion
assistance.
The West
Dorset group has been put on hold for the time being as the group were not
functioning as they should have been i.e. getting together for meetings. Even though the group has been suspended I
have been asked to stay on the committee.
I will still try to liaise with the various Dorset Chairmen within the
area.
The
County Chairman will be meeting with all Chairmen and Vice Chairmen within
Dorset. This will happen over the next
few months to get their ideas on training within their respective
branches. They will also be discussing
the way forward for the County and County Branches. Meetings will be taking place in three
different locations within the county so all personnel can attend.
The
County is hoping to organise various training courses locally to help branches
get as many committee members trained. These courses will most probably be
Branch Management, Parade Marshals, Accounting and Welfare.
