The Chairman stated that the meeting would look at events
that have worked this year and discuss plans for events in 2015.
D-DAY A cheque for £987 has been given to Sylvia for The
Poppy Appeal. There is a small outstanding charge for one of the nights at The
Halls.
The remaining events for this year are:
04 AUG 14

Centenary of the start of WW1. A ceremony will be held at
The Jubilee Pavilion, commencing at 23:00 hours. The Secretary had spoken
with The Standard Bearer and he will attend. Martin will be Parade Marshal.
Dress as per Remembrance Sunday, ie with medals.

28 AUG 14
|
19:00 Hours. Meeting in Lyme, The RBL Dorset SW Group. The
County Chairman will attend. All are welcome.

09 NOV 14
|
Remembrance Sunday. Morning Parade.
One change: road closure applications now go to County
rather than the police.

10 DEC 14
|
19:30 Hours. Dorchester Football Club. Re-enactment of the
match between British and German troops in No-man's Land, Xmas 1914.

Wednesday VJ Day.

It was agreed that VJ Day, marking the end of the war, would
be the most appropriate date. A parade and church service could be the format.
David Manners will liaise with The Church and LRTC.
The Chairman proposed an annual RBL Fun Run. This would
involve The Branch and the town, including the youth, and, historically, has
proved a good fund raiser. Everyone agreed this was a very good idea in
principal. David will research all the logistic and legal requirements. The
best date would be Armed Forces Day.
